While the Senate Finance Committee is expected to vote on healthcare legislation today, October 13, the House Financial Services Committee will begin considering financial regulatory reform legislation on October 14 concerning the following topics:
- ? The October 2, 2009, discussion draft of the Over the Counter Derivatives Market Act of 2009;
- ? The September 25, 2009, discussion draft of the Consumer Financial Protection Agency Act of 2009 (to be reported as H.R. 3126);
- ? H.R. 3763, to amend the Fair Credit Reporting Act to provide for an exclusion from Red Flag Guidelines for certain businesses; and
- ? H.R. 3639, Expedited Card Reform for Consumers Act of 2009.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) also plan to release on October 15 a report that will address key areas in which their regulatory schemes are different. The chairmen of the two agencies also say they expect the report will recommend legislative and regulatory actions to address those differences where appropriate.
