'Damn' unwelcome on October cover

“Damn” is not a strong word any more but I really was unhappy to see it on your front cover of Senior Market Advisor (October 2007).

How many articles a year do you publish telling us that we should be professional in our appearance, manners and language, and then you use a swear word on the front cover of your magazine?

I know the world has changed and has coarsened, but you should lead the way in things like this.

Kudos to Dean Zayed on a superior column (“The free-wheelin‘ days of the industry are over,” The Close, Nov. 2007 Senior Market Advisor).

It was extremely relevant and insightful, and in my opinion, you were spot-on regarding FINRA, yesterday’s advisors, and the future of the industry – all in compelling style. Keep up the great work.

New column debuts this month

Editor’s note: Senior Market Advisor would like to welcome our newest columnist, John Boe, into the mix as his new column, titled “The Motivated Seller” makes its debut on page 104.

Boe presents a wide variety of motivational and sales-oriented keynotes and seminar programs for sales meetings and conventions. His sales experience is rooted in the financial services industry as a successful sales rep, an award-winning manager and top recruiter for an international financial services company.

His column replaces Sarano Kelley’s “The Balanced Life,” which enjoyed a 15-month run during which he served as a keynote speaker at Senior Market Advisor Expo.
