MetLife Inc.’s Mature Market Institute’s has issued a guide for consumers who care for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease.[@@]

The 27-page booklet contains advice and explanations, instructions, a list of resources and other information to help assure an Alzheimer patient’s safety and find support services and resources.

MetLife, New York, prepared the booklet, “Since You Care: Alzheimer’s Disease==Caregiving Challenges,” with the National Alliance for Caregiving, Bethesda, Md.

“Currently, there are an estimated 4.5 million Americans with the disease,” says Sandra Timmermann, director of the MetLife Mature Market Institute, Westport, Conn. “Based on Census Bureau estimates for population growth, by 2050 that number could reach 16 million.”
