Schwab Advisor Services says it has hired Julian Lopez to lead its relations with the firm’s largest and most complex independent advisory firms.

Lopez rejoins Schwab’s executive team “with a deep expertise and a strong track record of serving RIAs across a broad range of sizes and specialties,” the firm said Tuesday.

Lopez most recently was head of relationship management at LPL Financial, where he worked for two years. Before LPL, he spent 23 years with Schwab in several roles — including some with its business development and relationship management units.

Schwab Advisor Services works with over 15,000 independent RIA clients and has more than 3,000 employees.

In the first quarter 2025, Schwab-affiliated advisors had net new assets of $69.5 billion, up 24% year over year and 1% from the final quarter of 2024. Overall, total client assets in Advisor Services’ accounts stood at $4.47 trillion as of March 31.
