The wealth management technology provider Orion announced a series of platform enhancements on Tuesday at its Ascent 2025 Conference in Orlando, including new artificial intelligence-powered meeting prep tools and updates to the Redtail client relationship management system.
The firm also committed to investing 15% of its technology revenue into research and development in 2025, while previewing enhancements slated for midyear intended to enable advisors to locate data across all Orion systems seamlessly. This functionality will initially debut in the Orion Advisor Portal, specifically supporting new account opening.
Reed Colley, President of Orion Advisor Technology, said the enhancements and the reinvestment of revenue embody the firm’s commitment to delivering “investor-centric technology that empowers advisors to grow their businesses and create lasting value for their clients.”
The new AI-supported meeting prep tool supports automatic meeting agenda generation inside of Orion Portfolio View. The tool aims to allow advisors to better utilize portfolio analytics, financial planning considerations and previous CRM notes to boost efficiency in client meetings.
Additionally, Orion’s Redtail CRM is launching three significant updates in the first quarter.
First, firms will gain the ability to easily reassign CRM ownership, supporting seamless transitions and consistent workflows. Second, a new “lightweight enterprise reporting” feature allows large registered investment advisors, aggregators and broker-dealers to generate regulatory and compliance reports across multiple CRMs — paving the way for a future enterprise dashboard with full organizational oversight.
The final new feature within Redtail CRM is secure third-party document sharing, meant to enable advisors to collaborate effectively with external stakeholders like certified public accountants and attorneys via simplified document exchanges.
Within Orion Advisor Trading, upcoming enhancements in the first half of 2025 will introduce advisor-as-portfolio-manager (APM) trading, new tax management capabilities, and an insights dashboard to automate workflows when identifying and submitting trade orders. Moving forward, Orion and advisor-created managed models are also being brought together in one location for the advisor to view a customized, curated list of their models — along with performance reviews and the ability to compare models.
Other developments include options trading in Orion Eclipse. This feature allows advisors to generate income through covered calls and protect against down markets with protective puts. The tool is customizable and scalable, allowing advisors to tailor strategies to client needs while executing trades securely through FIX protocol.
