Visiting YouTube can give you a taste of what clients are hearing about annuities in online ads and online personal finance shows. We’ve put together a list of the 10 YouTube videos related to the U.S. annuity market in 2022, based on the number of views received.
Annuity video viewership is low when compared with viewership for some other types of financial services videos. For example, the top cryptocurrency video posted in 2022, which is about a Super Bowl commercial, had about 24 million views as of Jan. 16.
In comparison, the top U.S. mutual fund video had 834,000 views.
To make our list, a video needed to have more than 2,000 views since Jan. 1, 2022, and the top video on this list has attracted more than 200,000 views.
To compile this list, we searched YouTube for videos posted from Jan. 1, 2022, through Dec. 31, 2022. that mentioned the word “annuity” or “annuities,” and then sorted the results by the number of views as of Jan. 16.
Note that YouTube video creators have subscriber counts as well as video view counts, and that the subscriber counts and view counts are usually different.
We excluded videos about markets other than the U.S. market and videos aimed mainly at math students or other students. We also excluded one video, from Professional Life and Casualty Company, that was similar to another video on this list and had the same title. A video that was about annuities but left the words “annuity” and “annuities” out of the title would not show up here.
Because of issues related to view count data access, this list focuses solely on YouTube videos. It does not reflect viewership on other online streaming services.
Oak Harvest Financial Group, a Houston-based RIA and financial advisor, holds four slots on this list. It has posted more than 200 videos about annuities, income planning and related topics in the past year.
