STAMFORD, Conn. (–UBS AG hired former Soci?t? G?n?rale Group veteran Chris Hagstrom to manage sales of equity swaps to hedge funds in the United States and to manage its U.S.-based international stock loan desk.

Mr. Hagstrom previously ran equity finance sales for Soci?t? G?n?rale in London. In 2003 he moved to New York to work on the firm’s derivatives team.

A UBS spokesman said Mr. Hagstrom’s hiring is part of a continuing expansion of UBS’ equity finance operation. A big part of that is servicing hedge fund managers.

“It’s all part of a drive to hire top-class talent where we see a need and there is a good fit,” UBS Executive Director Darren Johns said. “We think the hedge fund market will grow, and we are focused on servicing our clients as best we can. Chris’ skill set makes for a good fit.”
