NU Online News Service, March 12, 2003, 10:33 a.m. EST – Prime Therapeutics Inc., St. Paul, Minn., a pharmacy benefit manager, will introduce a defined-contribution prescription drug program July 1.

The Prime CDRx program combines an employer-funded “pharmacy savings account” for routine prescription expenses with high-deductible prescription insurance.

Plan members who end the year with unused pharmacy account funds can keep the funds in the account the following year, Prime says.

Prime is owned by subsidiaries of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, Eagan, Minn., and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska, Omaha, Neb.
