Fertig Joins Context Capital

NEW YORK (HedgeWorld.com)–Treesdale Partners LLC launched its fund of funds on Oct. 1 with US$14 million, with seSAN DIEGO (HedgeWorld.com)–William D. Fertig joined Context Capital Management, a convertible arbitrage manager, as co-chairman and chief investment officer.

Mr. Fertig joins the firm from McMahan Securities Co. LP, where he was a senior managing director. At McMahan, he spearheaded the independent convertible and derivative securities dealer’s entry into the brokerage business in 1990 and oversaw the sales and trading efforts there.

According to a Context statement, Mr. Fertig will add depth to the Context’s convertible investing with his corporate restructuring experience, which includes more than 30 capital structure transactions involving companies with outstanding convertible securities.

The existing team at Context includes: Micheal S. Rosen, co-chairman and chief executive officer; James R. Abbott, portfolio manager and trader; Theodore Tu, managing director in change of risk management systems; and M. Michelle Mott, vice president of operations.

Context Capital has US$25 million in assets in two hedge funds. Context Convertible Arbitrage LP was launched in February with US$10 million, while its offshore sibling Context Convertible Arbitrage Offshore Ltd., was launched in August with US$6 million
