Orion has appointed Valli Nachiappan as its new chief technology officer, reporting to Reed Colley, president of Orion Advisor Technology.

Nachiappan takes on the Orion CTO role after a two-decade career in client experience technology development, having most recently served as a vice president of engineering at Zendesk, a customer service software platform that helps businesses manage and improve their customer interactions.

Her previous roles include senior leadership positions at Zaplabs, a developer of technology solutions for brokers and agents affiliated with Realogy’s real estate brands, and at Yapstone, a technology provider in the vacation rental industry.

As CTO of Orion, Nachiappan will lead the execution of Orion’s technology strategy, focused on further modernizing its architecture and accelerating the delivery of emerging technologies — especially in the domain of artificial intelligence-powered solutions to enhance the advisor-client experience.

“What drew me in was the tech team’s energy, the company’s mission and the opportunity to build innovative, scalable and secure wealthtech solutions that help advisors and investors thrive,” Nachiappan said of her appointment.

“I’m excited to drive Orion’s technology strategy forward by leveraging emerging technologies, harnessing the power of data and AI, and building a secure, scalable platform that keeps us ahead of industry trends and delivers lasting value to our clients,” she added.

Colley cited Nachiappan’s “deep expertise in engineering leadership and passion for innovation” as key factors in her appointment.

Valli’s technology leadership will be key to advancing our unified platform and reinforcing Orion’s position at the forefront of wealthtech,” he added.
