The dynamic connecting employers, employees and financial planning professionals presents one of the most important competitive trends affecting the work of wealth management firms.

Previously, employers tended to be more protective of their employees and their retirement plan accounts, viewing the financial advisors' role as providing support and guidance to the retirement plan committee and helping the company protect itself from fiduciary liability.

Today, things have changed significantly, experts agree. Increasingly, employers see the support of wealth management professionals as essential to the retirement outcomes of their workers. This coincides with the baby boomer generation, having amassed more wealth than any generation before, entering retirement in a veritable "silver tsunami."

Exploring this trend, ThinkAdvisor will be on the ground at the National Association of Plan Advisors’ 2025 401(k) Summit. The gathering, set to take place April 28-30 in Las Vegas, will dig into such topics as the opportunity for growth via retirement plan services; the source and structure of advisors' fiduciary duties; and the evolving role of technology in the marketplace.

Event organizers have introduced a “technical” track for the event, so participants can review topics such as how mergers and acquisitions affect qualified retirement plans maintained by the two entities and how to go beyond traditional defined contribution plans to embrace more complex plan designs.

The event also includes four advisor bootcamps: the NAPA CPFA Credential Exam Cram, the NAPA Retirement Income for 401(k) Plans Certificate Bootcamp, the Broadridge AIF Bootcamp and the NAPA 401(k) Managed Accounts Certificate Bootcamp.

Attendees can earn up to 14.5 hours of NAPA continuing education credits at the conference, as well as more credits by participating in some of the bootcamps.
