Jason Fichtner Among New Members Named to FINRA Foundation Board

Three new members have been appointed to the board of directors of the nonprofit FINRA Investor Education Foundation, while the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority’s chief economist, Jonathan Sokobin, has been named board chair.

The three new board members are Jason Fichtner, the chief economist at the Bipartisan Policy Center and former Social Security Administration official; Ellen Frawley, a partner at the GMMB agency; and Paul Roye, a retired former executive with Capital Research & Management Co.

According to the board’s announcement, Sokobin has been a longtime collaborator with the FINRA Foundation in his role as FINRA’s chief economist and head of the Office of Regulatory Economics and Market Analysis. As the new board chair, he will lead his fellow directors in overseeing the management of the the foundation’s operations.

FINRA Foundation’s mission is to “empower Americans with the knowledge, skills and tools to make sound financial decisions throughout their lives.” The foundation’s work ultimately helps its parent organization achieve its broader mission of protecting investors and promoting market integrity.

“We are delighted to welcome Jonathan, Ellen, Jason and Paul to the FINRA Foundation board,” said Gerri Walsh, president of the foundation. “Together with current directors Menekse Gencer and Peggy Ho, they bring a wide range of skills, expertise and perspectives. I am thrilled to have Jonathan at the helm to provide a bridge between the FINRA Foundation and FINRA, championing our efforts to help people build and protect wealth.”
