George Nichols III, the CEO of The American College of Financial Services, will moderate a panel discussion about the state of financial education in the insurance industry at 9:15 a.m. ET Tuesday. The financial education panel will be part of a three-day diversity, equity and inclusion conference starting Monday in Washington, D.C.

Both Nichols and The American College were recognized as LUMINARIES award winners by ThinkAdvisor in 2022.

The American Council of Life Insurers is sponsoring the conference together with the Life Insurance Council of New York and the American Property Casualty Insurance Association.

One of the members of Nichols’ panel will be Ted Daniels, the founder and president of the Society for Financial Education & Professional Development, a financial literacy non-profit aimed at providing education to people of all backgrounds.

The other panelists are Virginia House Delegate Briana Sewell, who helped lead efforts to create a paid family and medical leave program in Virginia, and Mary Catherine Desrosiers, an education and education technology executive at Junior Achievement America.

The conference will also include sessions on topics such as inclusion of people with disabilities and ways the insurance industry can improve recruiting, talent retention and community investment efforts.
