Two insurance organizations — Symetra Life Insurance Company and Kemper Corp. — have named new heads for U.S. life units.
Symetra said it has picked Daniel Guilbert to be the president of its individual life and retirement divisions.
Symetra is a Bellevue, Washington-based arm of Sumitomo Life of Osaka, Japan.
Guilbert has been head of Symetra’s individual life division since 2017.
Since 2010, he has been in charge of Symetra’s retirement division, and through that has overseen the company’s indexed annuity operation.
Kemper — a Chicago-based multiline carrier that’s best known for its property-casualty operations — said it has hired Cheryl Kingsfield Neal to be president of its Kemper Life operation, which is part of Kemper’s Life & Health Division.
Neal was the global chief strategy and marketing officer at Foresters Financial. Before that, she was the president of Foresters’ North American Life and Annuity Division.
Neal has also worked for Liberty Mutual, HSBC Insurance Services, Wells Fargo and Discover Card.
Michael Plazony, the previous president of the Kemper Life unit, has left to pursue other opportunities, Kemper said.
