Marketing from Apple claims money apps for the new Apple Watch can help people in their business life.

But which ones are “financial savers” and which apps are just “time wasters?”

On the following pages, we give you a blueprint for the available apps.

Financial savers

ibankiBank

Gather all of your banking accounts in one app. Set budgets and keep tabs on your spending in real time. With iBank, you’re also able to see how your investments are doing. Add, edit or delete trades. Monitor gains, losses and ROI. Great app for budgeting, while consolidating all banking apps into one. This app is the best of both worlds, combining personal banking with market information.

Citi Mobile Lite

This app is a great way to manage your money without having to log into the app every time. The app uses your fingerprint to open the account details. It provides real time notifications for credit card purchases and allows the consumer to set bill payment reminders.

Mint

Mint is a popular app that helps a consumer stick with their budget. It provides a snapshot of all the consumer’s balances and transactions together in one place to show their entire picture. This app uses graphs to showcase how the consumer’s spending habits are and what can help them become more effective with their money.

money wizMoneyWiz 2

Works on multiple platforms and claims to be fully functional on all of them. This is for the more advanced saver. This app has the similarities of tracking spending, combining accounts, budgeting, staying on time with paying bills. This app also provides a forecasting system and a dashboard that provides a constant snapshot. This app also allows the consumer to create reports to showcase spending over a year, net worth, custom reports, trends and so much more.

Unspent

This is just the opposite of MoneyWiz 2. This is for the user who wants something simple but still wants to track savings. This app focuses on tracking spending balances. This is an app to see what’s coming in and what’s going out.

BillGuard

BillGuard is an app in which you’re able to track charges on your debit or credit cards. It will also map out where you have made purchases. BillGuard also tracks your spending and offers coupons for your next purchase! This app appears to be useful for just credit card tracking.

discoverChronicle

Chronicle is a bill reminder application. It’s a great app that will help your credit score by ensuring you never miss a bill payment again! This app is also helpful by informing you of your spending.

Pennies

This app tracks one-off and repeating budgets. If you have “pennies” left over from a purchase, you put the extra pennies in a named folder such as “lunch.” The pennies will add up and show you how much more you can spend on “lunch” that month. This is a great app to track budgets, spending, and recent transactions and maybe find out where you can save.

Discover

This app is specific to Discover cardholders. A Discover cardholder can monitor their credit and bank account but it isn’t focused on offering financial tips.

Time wasters

portfolioPortfioWatch

This is could be a time waster for those that aren’t invested in the market. This shows the fluctuations of the ever changing stock market. You can enter in your holding and determine your gains and losses.

If you’re in the market for a new home, this provides up to date notifications on open houses, but it doesn’t provide helpful tips from a financial standpoint.

Fidelity

The Fidelity app brings up-to-the-minute stock market information to your wrist. See real-time quotes and market data. Great app if you’re looking for the most active stocks and the day’s biggest winners and losers, but if you’re not in this market it’s not relevant.

Redfin

It’s a real estate focused app. Find homes for sale, get notifications for open houses and take notes on your favorites/dislikes. Good app if you’re in the market for buying a house, otherwise not helpful for finance.

truliaTrulia

It’s another real estate focused app. You can instantly search homes for sale. This app offers hi-resolution photo galleries and information like crime and school ratings. Another great app if you’re in the market for buying a house, but not helpful for financial tips.

Daily Bread

This app appears to be very active by making the grocery shopping experience quick and easy. However it doesn’t show you what’s on sale and how much your items will cost to stay within budget.

24Me

They say “time is money.” 24Me is a personal assistant app that alerts you of important events on your calendar. This is not specific to bill paying or budgets though, however the consumer can set reminders for payments.
