The North American Securities Administrators Association said Tuesday that it has launched a comprehensive public course catalog for investment advisor representatives (IARs) seeking to fulfill their continuing education requirements under NASAA's IAR CE Model Rule.

"The catalog was created to minimize the challenge IARs experience when identifying courses that align with both their professional interests and the needs of their clients," said NASAA President Marni Gibson in a statement. "This tool will make it easier for IARs to stay current on regulatory requirements and best practices, strengthening the services they provide and enhancing investor protection."

The new catalog provides a centralized platform where IARs can browse every NASAA-approved IAR CE course in one location.

"Users can filter offerings by subject matter, course format, provider, number of credits, level of complexity, and whether a course has also been approved for continuing education credit for other professional designations," the group said.

Prior to 2020, IARs were not subject to a uniform continuing education requirement to maintain state licensure. NASAA adopted its Investment Adviser Representative Continuing Education (IAR CE) Model Rule in 2020, setting up a framework for jurisdictions to implement CE requirements for IARs.

Since then, "24 jurisdictions have adopted the model rule, and participation in the program has expanded significantly," the group said.

At the beginning of 2026, NASAA said that it recorded 108 approved IAR CE providers offering 1,136 approved courses.

IARs in adopting jurisdictions are required to complete 12 hours of continuing education annually, including ethics and products and practice components.
