Orion and DPL Financial Partners have expanded their integration to give advisors access to advanced annuity and insurance products on the Orion Connect platform, starting with three DPL annuity comparison and analysis tools, the companies announced Wednesday.
"Commission-free annuities are becoming an essential part of modern, fiduciary financial planning — but advisors need technology to access and implement them without friction," said Reed Colley, the president of Orion Advisor Technology.
"Through this integration of DPL's annuity tools and product insights, advisors have the ability to evaluate income strategies, uncover held-away assets and deliver more confident retirement outcomes without leaving their core workflow. This is about meeting real client needs while helping advisors grow and scale their practices in a way that's fully aligned with their fiduciary process," Colley said.
Annuities historically have been held outside the advisor's core workflow, the firms said. Through this integration, advisors gain in-platform access to a marketplace of fee-based products from leading industry carriers, and the tools to implement and manage them, Orion and DPL said.
The DPL offerings available through Orion Connect include an annuity comparison calculator to allow advisors to measure existing client annuities against commission-free, low-cost alternatives, guaranteed income analysis to help meet specific retirement needs, and a multiyear guaranteed annuity marketplace. DPL also supports advisors with insurance-licensed agents, so investment advisor representatives don't need to hold licenses or registration to include annuities among their planning tools.
"With commissions removed, annuities can be used as a structured solution to deliver efficient retirement income and protection from market volatility," said David Lau, DPL's founder and CEO.
Annuities are now integrated with other investments and tools that advisors use and can be used as fee-billable assets for advisors, he said.
The announcement builds on Orion and DPL's existing partnership.
