Visits to emergency care centers across the country aren't declining. In fact, the American Hospital Association says visits between 1991 and 2010 increased from 88.5 million to 127.2 million. The reason emergency centers are closing is because of cost. Trauma centers, such as those that treated victims after the Boston bombing, are great for helping people, but are very expensive to run.
