The Internal Revenue Service announced Wednesday that it will be opening some taxpayer assistance centers on designated Saturdays over the next four months.

The special Saturday openings will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 24, March 16, April 13 and May 18. Offices in dozens of states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico will be open during this four-month event, according to the IRS announcement. No appointments are required.

More than 50 locations plan to be open Feb. 24, and more than 70 offices are scheduled for the March 16 opening, with more information to come about later Saturdays. The IRS encourages taxpayers to visit its website for information about the participating locations.

Commissioner Danny Werfel said in the announcement that the Saturday hours are intended to help those with busy weekday work schedules get the help they need at a time more convenient for them. Funding from the Inflation Reduction Act made the Saturday openings possible, he said.

The IRS says individuals should bring all necessary documents when they visit an office, including current government-issued photo identification, Social Security numbers, IRS letters or notices received and any other related documents for service or identity verification.
