Envestnet | Yodlee signed a data access deal with American Express that the companies said Thursday will enable American Express clients to benefit from security, control and transparency when sharing financial data with their financial service providers.

The addition of the Yodlee data aggregation and analytics platform will “provide new digital banking options for customers without compromising their account security and [provide] a seamless connection to financial tools that they trust, including apps that help manage finances and build wealth,” the companies said in their joint announcement.

American Express clients will be able to “more easily leverage” their American Express account information to better manage personal finances and business expenses via secure connections with various applications they trust on the Yodlee platform, the firms said.

Integrating the Yodlee platform into American Express’ Account Financials application programming interface will enable American Express clients to direct that company to share their account data in a secure and more seamless way, they noted.

That “eliminates the need for credential sharing, improves data accuracy and reliability, and accelerates financial data access,” they added.

Through the new integration, American Express clients can also expect more reliability because customer-directed account information is shared in real time. They can also expect less sign-on disruptions because, as a result of the API integration, “connections are more stable, and may last for longer periods of time, enabling easier sign-on,” the companies said.

Technical integration is already underway by the two companies, who they said are working together to complete most of the migration for all in-scope U.S. services this year.
