In some states, local policymakers are devoting most of their retirement legislative energy to bailing out sinking municipal pension plans, or simply reintroducing the concept of “capitalism.”
In other states, state lawmakers are considering versions of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ annuity sales standards update, looking into setting up automatic payroll deduction retirement plan programs or even, in one case, trying to guarantee annuity owners a chance to work with a local insurance agent.
