Midwest Holding — a new, publicly traded, Lincoln, Nebraska-based company that hopes to build a big life insurance and annuity business — has hired Eric Berg to be its senior vice president and chief financial officer.
Berg was previously the CFO of Aviva India, an insurer in New Delhi.
He has also worked on Wall Street, as a stock analyst following the insurance industry for companies such as Lehman Brothers, RBC Capital Markets and Barclays Capital.
Berg has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in business from Stanford. He holds the chartered financial analyst professional designation.

Bestow — a Dallas-based life insurer and life insurance agency — has hired Lena Chukhno to be the company’s first chief revenue officer.
She was previously general manager of student loan refinancing and head of strategy at Earnest. Before that, she led business development and growth strategy for the multi-asset solutions division at J.P. Morgan. She also worked at McKinsey & Co. in management consulting.
She has a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in finance from Kyiv National Economic University and a master’s degree in business from INSEAD.

AmeriLife Group has promoted Kelly Atkinson to senior vice president, distribution operations, from senior vice president, brand management and creative services.
The company has also named Sarah Smith to succeed Atkinson has senior vice president, brand management and creative services.
