- Gilbert started out as an agent in central Iowa in 2002.
- NAILBA announced earlier this week that it has started talking about a potential merger with Finseca.
- Gilbert said NAILBA members must remember what agents do for widows, orphans and business owners when they deliver benefits checks in a time of need.
John Gilbert has taken over the 2022 chair of the National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies.
NAILBA represents the distributors that help connect life, health and annuity issuers with retail agents and brokers.
Gilbert will lead the Washington-based group as it considers recently announced efforts to merge with another life and annuity producer group, Finseca.
Gilbert said in a comment about his new post that NAILBA members always have to remember what the retail producers they serve do for the widows, orphans and business owners who receive life insurance benefits checks, in their times of greatest need.
“NAILBA needs to take a prominent role in distribution leadership in this industry,” he said.
The NAILBA board is looking at all available opportunities to amplify its members’ voice, Gilbert said.
