What You Need to Know

  • Sproutt starts by assigning an insured a quality of life index.
  • Insureds with high scores may pay less for life insurance.
  • Babyscripts can help health insurers and health care providers identify and support pregnant patients who need extra attention.

Sproutt, an online life insurance broker that offers discounts for applicants who take care of themselves, has raised $26 million in financing from a group of investors led by MoreTech Ventures.

Sproutt is based in New York and Tel Aviv. It says it will use some of the new cash to support a new agent platform.

The company assigns each insured a quality of life index, and then uses the score to personalize the insured’s life insurance coverage.

Sproutt’s list of supporters includes Guardian Life.

Babyscripts

Babyscripts — a company that provides remote monitoring and risk identification services for pregnant women — has raised $12 million from a group of investors led by MemorialCare Innovation Fund.

The Washington-based company says it will use much of the cash to make its Virtual Maternity Care program available to health care providers throughout the United States.
