MassMutual Brings Over State Street Exec for New Post: Personnel Moves

Massachusetts Life Insurance Company has hired Andrea Anastasio to be its first head of investment management solutions.

Anastasio previously was head of investment strategy and research at State Street Global Advisors. She also has worked for Wellington Management.

MassMutual says it wants Anastasio to help it stand out from the investment management crowd.

Anastasio has a bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross and a master’s degree from the University of Chicago.

MassMutual is based in Springfield, Massachusetts.

AmeriLife Group

AmeriLife Group has brought in a second former Cigna Corp. executive to fill a new post.

Brad Shelton will be the Clearwater, Florida-based insurance distributor’s senior vice president, product innovation.

Shelton previously was the chief operating officer at Cigna’s supplemental benefits unit. He also has worked for the Aetna unit that issues Medicare supplement insurance. Earlier, he was an accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Shelton has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Tennessee. He holds the Certified Public Accountant professional designation.

Shelton’s hiring comes on the heels of the announcement that Greg Etchison, another former Cigna executive, will be AmeriLife’s vice president, Medicare supplement and specialty health. Etchison had been vice president, sales-broker distribution at Cigna.

Cigna recently sold its group life and disability unit to New York Life Insurance Company.

Million Dollar Round Table

MDRT — a Park Ridge, Illinois-based group for successful life insurance agents and financial advisors — has hired Joe Ferrazza to be the director of its new North America channel relations team.

Ferrazza has owned and managed his own Chicago-based insurance agency since 2010. From 2018 to 2019, he was also director of the life and disability insurance brokerage at Hunken Ewing Financial Group.

Earlier in his insurance career, he was a financial rep at Northwestern Mutual, a regional life specialist at Lincoln Financial, and a private client life insurance sales executive at Marsh.

He also has worked as the communications director for the Chicago Motor Speedway.

He has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Marquette University and a master’s degree in business from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.
