Fidelity & Guaranty Life Insurance Company is moving its headquarters, the company announced earlier this week.

The company, which is an arm of FGL Holdings and uses the marketing name F&G Annuities and Life, plans to relocate to 83,000 square feet of space at the 801 Grand building in downtown Des Moines, from Two Ruan Center, between Sept. 30 and Dec. 31.

The new location is about three blocks away from the current location.

The company moved its headquarters to Two Ruan Center, from Baltimore, in 2014. The company told a Des Moines Register reporter in January 2014 that it had about 20 open positions in Des Moines and hoped to be employing about 50 people in Des Moines by 2017. F&G then had a total of about 180 employees in offices in Baltimore and Lincoln, Nebraska, according to the Des Moines Register article.

F&G said it’s moving now because it has outgrown the Two Ruan Center space.

FGL Holdings reported in its 2018 annual Form 10-K filing that it ended 2018 with 309 employees.

F&G said in the headquarters move announcement that it created 45 new positions in 2019.

“The company expects to maintain this growth as sales continue to grow above industry averages,” the company said.

Chris Blunt, the F&G’s chief executive officer, said in a comment included in the announcement that F&G wants to maintain a collaborative culture.

“We plan to invest heavily in optimizing our new workspace to provide flexibility for a variety of workstyles,” Blunt said in the comment.
