LifeSecure Starts Selling Long-Term Care Insurance in Maine

LifeSecure Insurance Company has started selling stand-alone long-term care insurance (LTCI) in Maine, through worksite marketing programs.

Earlier this year, the Brighton, Michigan-based insurer announced plans to expand its worksite LTCI program into Massachusetts.

LifeSecure now has operations in 49 states and the District of Columbia.

The insurer is an affilite of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.

LifeSecure has been working to increase sales of non-LTCI products as well as LTCI policies. It says it plans to sell accident insurance, critical illness insurance and hospital recovery insurance in Maine, in addition to LTCI coverage.

LifeSecure’s announcement comes as state insurance regulators are worrying about the future of stand-alone LTCI issuers, but some issuers are continuing to operate and expand stand-alone LTCI programs.

Mutual of Omaha, for example, recently produced a new LTCI video aimed at consumers.
