Fewer new long-term care insurance (LTCI) claims are for people in a nursing home, and more are for people in assisted living facilities.
The American Association for Long Term Care Insurance (AALTCI) has reported data supporting that conclusion in a summary of results from a new survey of LTCI issuers.

AALTCI found that the percentage of new LTCI claims filed for insureds getting care provided in a nursing home fell to about 28% in 2017, from 32% in 2016.
The percentage for people getting care at home fell to 52%, from 54%.
