Joel Bruckenstein, publisher of Technology Tools for Today (T3), was recognized on Wednesday by Bob Veres for his contributions to the financial services industry. Bruckenstein was awarded the 2017 Insider’s Forum Leadership Award during Veres’ Insider’s Forum conference in Nashville.

“Joel has for more than 20 years advised financial advisory firms and technology companies on how to improve the profession’s technologies, processes and workflows. His efforts have supported scalability, thus allowing advisory businesses to grow and become more efficient,” Veres said in a statement.

Bruckenstein’s T3 Enterprise Conference will take place in Las Vegas at the end of October. He’s the author of three books on practice management and technology, co-authored with former partner David Drucker, who retired in 2014.

Skip Schweiss, managing director of advisor advocacy and industry affairs at TD Ameritrade Institutional, praised Bruckenstein’s work as an advocate not just of technology, but of a fiduciary standard for the industry.

“Adapting to accelerating technology change is a key challenge for independent advisors. Joel has in his own way served as an industry advocate, urging advisors to assemble the right technology tools so that their firms might grow and stay competitive,” Schweiss said in a statement. “I’m also impressed that Joel seized the opportunity to lobby a captive Sen. Marco Rubio on the importance of the fiduciary standard during a recent airplane flight. That, friends, is leadership.”

Bruckenstein tweeted in April about a serendipitous meeting with the senator when Rubio took the airline seat next to him.
