Northern Trust Welcomes Marsh
Northern Trust has announced that Michael Marsh has joined its foundation and institutional advisory services practice serving the eastern region of the U.S. as senior vice president and senior wealth strategist responsible for new business development in the mid-Atlantic region. He is based in Washington, D.C., and will report to James Tucker, eastern region managing director of the practice.
Marsh joins with more than 18 years of investment management experience. Previously, he served as the director of nonprofit investment services for Rockefeller & Co. Before entering the financial services industry, he served as a Jesuit; a professor of management; a consultant to refugee and disaster relief agencies globally; an ESL instructor for the United Nations; and a VISTA volunteer.
Thompson, Siegel & Walmsley Make Leadership Changes
Thompson, Siegel & Walmsley has announced that Horace Whitworth, currently co-chief executive officer, will be sole CEO going forward. Lawrence Gibson, currently co-CEO with Whitworth, will step down from that position but remain chairman of the board of managers. Frank Reichel, currently chief investment officer, will be promoted to president; he will be succeeded by Brett Hawkins. Roger Porter will join Reichel as co-portfolio manager. Lori Anderson, currently director of operations, and John Reifsnider, director of business operations, have been named to the board of managers.
Whitworth has been with the firm for 28 years, Gibson for 14. Reichel is a 14-year veteran of the firm and has 28 years of investment experience. Hawkins has been with the firm for 13 years and has 16 years of investment experience. Porter is a six-year veteran of the firm and a research analyst with 20 years of portfolio management and research experience. Anderson joined the firm in 1978. Reifsnider joined the firm in 2005.
Sutherland Joins Ballard Spahr
Attorney Anne Sutherland has joined Ballard Spahr as counsel in the mortgage banking and consumer financial services groups.
Sutherland brings more than 20 years of experience, both in-house as general counsel and chief compliance officer for several national mortgage banking companies as well as in private practice.
LIMRA Adds Moon
LIMRA has hired Dr. Betty Moon to be the next managing director of Bank Insurance and Securities Research Associates (BISRA), a collaborative effort between the Bank Insurance and Securities Association (BISA) and LIMRA. She replaces Scott Stathis, who led BISRA since its inception and its predecessor, Kehrer-LIMRA. Stathis has agreed to stay through the end of 2014 to ensure a smooth transition.
