We caught up with Rick Bailey and Amanda Hohenberry at NAHU’s Capitol Conference in Washington, DC. When Georgia Governor Nathan Deal appointed Rick to the state’s Exchange Advisory Committee, it was clear that “business as usual” was going to change for all stakeholders.

In this episode, Rick and Amanda discuss how their traditional general agency shaped that shift and developed their private exchange, which is based in large measure on Amanda’s experience and insight in social media. Two very different generations have created a platform that breaks down the barriers to customer understanding and engagement in their benefits choices and enrollment.

Amanda discusses why it is so easy for benefit advisers to forget what it is like to be an individual consumer. We discuss using the Internet as the most powerful free marketing tool in your kit, and why it is ultimately about creating an environment that is comfortable for everyone involved in the process.
