Top 5 Business Women Who Tweet About Wall Street

When Sallie Krawcheck got bumped from her top spot at Bank of America last September, she did the logical thing: get on Twitter and start tweeting.

Twitter was certainly not part of her day before Krawcheck was forced out last September as head of BofA’s global wealth and investment management group, which included Merrill Lynch. But once she escaped the confines and compliance concerns of her work life at a big bank, Krawcheck was free to join the Twitteratti.

Since joining the advisory board of Gold Bullion International last week, Krawcheck has only ramped up her use of the social-media site. “On gold as a store of value: the gold of the pharaohs is still valuable, but their bonds aren’t worth much,” Krawcheck wrote Friday on her Twitter feed in answer to a question from writer and investment banker Christopher Whalen.

It was Krawcheck’s tenth tweet in less than 24 hours.

As a woman with a Wall Street pedigree, Krawcheck is in good company on Twitter. Women tweet 12% more than men, according to a HubSpot study on gender and Twitter use, and a growing number of women in finance and the advisor world are gaining avid Twitter followings.

So AdvisorOne lists our top five business women (including Krawcheck) who tweet about Wall Street, in reverse order of number of followers as of April 23. We also based our choices on frequency of tweets, quality of posts, professional credentials and what our gut tells us. We actively avoided anyone who is a bona fide member of the chattering class, whether in media or marketing (sorry, @Maria Bartiromo).

Don’t like who you see? Then tell us who deserves to be on the list of top women in finance who tweet.
