Wilmington Trust has added three advisors from Bank of America Merrill Lynch to its Wealth Advisory Services business in the Northeast region, the firm announced Wednesday.

The new hires are Walter Dillingham, who will serve as a managing director and business development officer, and John Lawson and Leigh Weiss, who will serve as managing directors and investment advisors. They will work in the New York office of Wilmington Trust FSB, specializing in serving the endowments and foundations market.

Dillingham most recently was director of philanthropic management at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He held a similar at Bank of America’s predecessor Fleet Bank, which he joined in 2000. He also previously worked at David L. Babson & Co. and Standard & Poor’s Corp.

Lawson was a senior institutional portfolio strategist at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. At the predecessor company U.S. Trust, he was a senior institutional relationship manager, and before that supported pension clients at Sanford C. Berstein & Co. and Bankers Trust Co.

Weiss, too, was a senior institutional portfolio strategist at Bank of American Merrill Lynch, and before that served as a portfolio manager and strategist at U.S. Trust. Earlier in his career, he was an investment banker at Goldman Sachs and a municipal bond analyst for Oppenheimer & Co.

Wilmington Trust’s Wealth Advisory Services offers a comprehensive array of personal trust, wealth planning, fiduciary, asset management and family office services to help clients grow, preserve and transfer wealth. The business maintains offices in high-net-worth markets throughout the U.S.
