Financial technology firm BondDesk Group announced Monday, September 13, that it has hired Peter Campfield, former vice president of fixed income trading at Charles Schwab & Co., as president of the BondDesk Trading (BDT) platform.

Campfield, who brings more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, was co-head of the Schwab fixed-income group in San Francisco, where he had direct responsibility for managing the taxable trading and syndicate desks. He will be moving to New York to run the BDT platform.

“We are very pleased to have an industry veteran like Peter leading our BDT platform,” said BondDesk CEO Peter Crosbie in a statement. “He has a wealth of hands-on experience dealing with all the challenges and opportunities that we share with our clients in today’s fixed income markets.”

BondDesk Group is a leading retail and odd-lot bond trading firm that provides fixed-income solutions to broker-dealers. Its trading system run by BDT connects broker-dealers through a centralized marketplace by offering a pool of liquidity for odd-lot fixed income securities in multiple asset classes. The system executes over 20,000 transactions a day.

At Schwab, Campfield played a key role in building the proprietary BondSource trading platform, expanding Schwab’s electronic trading capabilities and leading the development of its CD OneSource program. Previously, he held a portfolio management position within Schwab’s Treasury department. He began his career with Merrill Lynch in New York, managing the short-term funding desk.
