The Hartford Mutual Funds said Thursday, September 9, that it had named Jeff Reiss, who had been national sales manager for its wirehouse unit since 2008, as national sales manager, with responsibility for all mutual fund and 529 plan sales across Hartford Mutual Funds’ wirehouse, RIA, independent and bank channels.

In his new position, Reiss will report to Jim Davey, executive vice president. In a statement, Davey said Reiss’s promotion reflected “our commitment to accelerate growth of the fund family and expand market share across all channels,” further noting that there had been “positive net flows every year since inception of the fund family in 1996, and a large part of that is attributable to success in the wirehouse channel under Jeff’s direction over the years.”

The company positioned the promotion as “part of a broader strategy” that rearranged The Hartford’s Wealth Management business around “four core segments: mutual funds, global annuities, retirement plans and individual life insurance.”

Last month, The Hartford Financial Services Group (HFG), posted improved second-quarter results.
