A new index is tracking summary prospectus filings that are part of variable annuity contracts.
Called the NewRiver Summary Prospectus Index for Variable Annuities, the index is a product from NewRiver, Inc., Andover, Mass.
The index shows that, through January 2010, 78 VAs had at least one subaccount with a summary prospectus document, and 168 subaccounts had summary prospectus documents.
A more detailed version of the index is available to insurance companies, NewRiver says. The more detailed version shows prospectus data specific to each company’s variable insurance products.
