Boomer women outnumber boomer men – hardly surprising since women have a longer life expectancy – but it hasn’t always been the case. According to a new data from the U.S. Census Bureau, in 1970 men outnumbered women 50.3 percent to 49.7 percent. It wasn’t until 2000 when the tables turned. Today, boomer women outnumber men 50.9 percent to 49.1 percent.

And, expect that gap to widen as men die at a faster rate than women. The Census Bureau estimates that by 2030 54.9 percent of the boomer population will be women.
