Boomers have specific expectations for new homes

Boomers say it would be ideal to stay in their current home forever, but most are facing the reality that they will need to move at some point in the future. What they’re looking for in a new home, according to a survey conducted by Opinion Research Corporation for AARP, is a single-level home that is more comfortable or convenient.

Not surprisingly, it’s the older boomers who are thinking harder about moving. And there are differences in opinion between genders — boomer men are more likely than women to believe they will move into a newer home or move into a home in a warmer or better climate; boomer women are more likely than men to think they will move into a smaller home.
