American United Life Insurance Company has started selling the Voyage Protect individual variable annuity.

American United, a unit of OneAmerica Financial Partners Inc., Indianapolis, says the new annuity will come with an option for purchasers to buy a lifetime guaranteed minimum withdrawal benefit rider.

The GMWB rider, available in versions for spouses as well as for individuals, can give purchasers the right to make withdrawals as early as age 45, American United says.

American United will be replacing its current StarPoint individual VA product with the Voyage Protector product as the new product gains approval in more states, the company says.

American United now has obtained approvals to sell the Voyage Protector contract in 36 states.

American United has developed a Web-based system to explain the new annuity to producers, the company says.

American United is responsible for backing the product guarantees.
