The new Financial Industry Regulatory Authority says John Simmers will be the independent dealer-insurance affiliate representative on its interim board.

The National Association of Securities Dealers, Washington, and the regulatory arm of the New York Stock Exchange formed FINRA, Washington, when they merged in July.

Simmers is chief executive of the ING Advisors Network, Atlanta, a U.S. arm of ING Groep N.V., Amsterdam. He is a former member of the NASD board.

The interim board also includes Sir Brian Corby, the retired chairman of Prudential Corp. P.L.C., London. Coby, another former member of the NASD board, will serve as a “public governor,” or governor who comes from outside the securities industry.
