A financial services company is using interest in income taxes to get consumers to think about the general state of their finances.

Prudential Financial Inc., Newark, N.J., has reached out by developing a series of 12 short articles that answer 12 popular questions about retirement planning tax issues.

Prudential will put one of the articles on its Web site each Monday from Feb. 5 to April 16, the company says.

The first article deals with tax treatment of Social Security benefits.
