The general agency arm of Word & Brown Company says it will be offering free premium-only plan services to California employers.

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger recently suggested requiring all employers in the state to help reduce the cost of health benefits by offering premium-only plans, or plans that enable employees to pay their share of monthly insurance premiums with pre-tax dollars.

Word & Brown, Orange, Calif., says its general agency will make POPs available to licensed brokers and the brokers’ clients through its Conexis benefits administration system.

The POP program will include an Internal Revenue Service plan document, a summary plan description, an adoption agreement, discrimination testing, enrollment forms and sample introductory letters for the employer’s employees, Word & Brown says.
