A Kansas state court has rebuffed efforts by a Medicaid managed care company to continue to serve Kansas Medicaid plan members.

Centene Corp., St. Louis, says it will be dropping efforts to keep the Kansas Medicaid business and will start working out arrangements to get members into other health plans.

Kansas officials earlier decided to go with other vendors for the state’s Medicaid plan business.

Centene’s departure from the Kansas Medicaid market should be completed by March 31, 2007, and it probably will lead to layoffs, Centene says.
