Competition is increasing in the New York long term care insurance arena.

John Hancock Life Insurance Company, Boston, a unit of Manulife Financial Corp., Toronto, has introduced 5 LTC insurance policies designed for the New York State Partnership for Long Term Care market.

Consumers who buy the policies can keep at least some of their assets if they are unlucky enough to exhaust the private LTC insurance benefits and draw on Medicaid nursing home benefits, and 3 of the policies offer total asset protection, according to John Hancock.

Partner, preferred health, marketing group and valued client discounts are available, John Hancock says.
