Aetna Inc. will have Aexcel specialist networks in 26 markets in January 2007.
Aetna, Hartford, says it has developed the Aexcel network by choosing physicians in 12 specialties, such as general surgery and obstetrics/gynecology, who provide good, efficient care.
This year, 35 employers are using the Aexcel network to provide care for 483,000 plan members, up from 25 employers and 300,000 plan members in 2005.
The markets now coming into the program are Cincinnati; Indianapolis; Oklahoma City, Okla.; Richmond, Va.; San Diego; and Tulsa, Okla.
