Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. has hired Jeff Coghan to be director of college savings plans.[@@]

Coghan, who will be responsible for marketing Section 529 college savings plans to wholesalers and large retail customers, previously worked in 529 plan sales at Morgan Stanley & Company Inc., New York, according to Hartford, Simsbury, Conn.

The Hartford 529 plan program, based on a 529 plan program sponsored by West Virginia, now manages $550 million in saving plan assets, Hartford says.
