Shepherdson Returns To AXA

AXA Financial Inc. has hired Jamie Shepherdson to be executive vice president and head of the company’s AXA Distributors L.L.C. wholesale distribution division.[@@]

Shepherdson co-founded the distribution unit in the late 1990s, according to AXA Financial, New York.

The unit now is one of the biggest distributors of variable annuities in the United States, according to AXA Financial. The distribution unit markets variable annuities and other products through a network of about 90,000 registered representatives.

Shepherdson most recently was chief executive of John Hancock Funds, which is now a unit of Manulife Financial Corp., Toronto.

Shepherdson has a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in finance from the University of Southern California.
