Principal Financial Group Inc. has introduced a family of dental plans aimed at employers who want a high level of control over plan costs and benefits.[@@]

The new Principal Employee Choice program includes one set of options for employers with at least 10 enrolled employees and another set of options for employers with at least 25 enrolled employees.

Employers with at least 10 enrolled employees can use the program to offer employees a choice of 2 different plans and make the employees themselves responsible for paying some or all of the cost of the coverage, according to Principal, Des Moines, Iowa.

Employers with at least 25 enrolled employees can design each of the 2 plans, by deciding what types of services each plan will cover and whether those services will qualify as preventive, basic or major services, Principal says.
