The Insurance Marketplace Standards Association has released a free brochure for annuity buyers.[@@]

IMSA, Washington, has posted the brochure on its Web site, at http://www.imsaethics.org

The brochure explains the differences between fixed and variable annuities, explains payout options and other features, and suggests questions older consumers and other consumers should consider when shopping for annuities.

The brochure suggests that consumers should look at restrictions on withdrawals, the costs and benefits of exchanging one annuity for another, and the financial stability of the companies issuing the annuities.
