John Hancock Enters Into Advisory Role For GMO

The U.S. wealth management division at John Hancock Financial Services says it will be offering 8 mutual funds run by managers at GMO L.L.C., Boston.[@@]

The deal will expand the number of retail funds that Hancock, Boston, offers to 40, from 32.

GMO also will become a sub-advisor for 3 existing portfolios offered to Hancock variable annuity and retirement plan customers, and GMO will become a sub-advisor for new investment options to be offered to VA and retirement plan customers, Hancock says.

Hancock is a unit of Manulife Financial Corp., Boston.
